SHOULD CHILDREN USE LAPTOPS IN CLASS?

We live in a word very influenced by technology which is progressing constantly. If technology advances, we do too. Consequently, these days, more and more schools are introducing laptops in classes. So, against this, many people ask if the use of laptops in classrooms is beneficial, or on the contrary, they are a distraction.

The advances of this are obvious: firstly, using computers in classrooms allows students to take notes more easily. Moreover, using laptops means an adaptation to the technological word in which we live (“If you don't get a laptop, you will get old fashioned”). Also, using computers in classes involves making less spelling mistakes since computers correct them for you.

On the other hand, the disadvantages of using them are: firstly, people can't take notes more easily on the computer because they are slower, and, consequently, the prefer taking them by hand. Secondly, many people consider them like an incentive to a distraction, because having Internet involves access to websites like Messenger, Tuenti, twitter or Facebook. Finally, the fact that laptops correct our mistakes means that students don't pay attention and make more spelling errors.

On balance, I'm in favor of using laptops in classes because they help us to take notes more easily. However, I believe there are occasional cases in which using laptops in class is not a good idea, because in languages classes, for example, we have to learn to write and not make mistakes.

  1. As far as I'm concerned, despite the lack of vocabulary, your essay has a good estructure, has sense, and sounds really good. Well done.

  2. Hi Paula, well done!

on the one hand during the argumentation you mention that people can't take notes with their laptops as fast as writing by hand, and then, in the conclusion, you mention that "computers help us to take notes more easily" so I can't understand at all what you want to say, do you mean they help people or not? on the other hand I expect that when you say "male" you want to say "make". the structure is correct for the kind of text it is, and the argumentation is also good!
I think students shouldn't use computers during the lessons, because they don't pay attention to the teacher! teachers can use a computer or a projector and explain the lesson using them, but students shouldn't use them. Furthermore, if they had internet connection it would be worse! they would be the whole day chatting!

ps: you can comment my posts too! :D

  3. I think that Paula needs more vocabulary and pay attention with the faults. The structure are very well because she has an introduction and two pharagrafs to for and against and a conclusion. I like it!

  6. I think that using laptops is good for use, because we can take notes easily, the problem is when we use the laptops for other things, such as messenger, facebook or other networks..
